Study Visa Refusal Cases
Most of the time, applicants will receive a letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) explaining the reasons for the rejection.
Application for a study visa may be rejected by IRCC for a number of typical causes, such as:
- the ability to support yourself financially while studying in Canada;
- the ability to pass the required medical examination;
- the ability to persuade the immigration officer that the applicant’s primary reason for coming to Canada is to study;
- and/or the ability to persuade the immigration officer that the applicant will depart Canada once their study period is over.
Carefully review the refusal letter and understand the reasons provided by the Canadian visa officer for the refusal.
You may be able to reapply for a study visa after addressing the reasons for refusal. However, you should ensure that you have sufficient new information or evidence to support your case.
If you believe that your application was unfairly refused or if you are unsure of your next steps, you may wish to seek the advice of a qualified immigration lawyer.
If you are unable to obtain a study visa for Canada, you may wish to explore other options such as studying in another country or pursuing an online program.
