STUDY PERMIT EXTENSION
A Canada study permit extension allows international students to extend their stay in Canada to complete their studies. If a student’s study permit is expiring soon and they have not completed their studies, they must apply to extend their study permit before it expires.
To apply for a study permit extension, the student must submit their application before their current study permit expires. They must provide proof of enrollment in their program, proof of financial support, and any other supporting documents required by the Canadian government. They must also pay the application fee.
It is important to note that a study permit extension does not guarantee approval for a subsequent study permit or any other immigration status in Canada. The student must continue to meet the requirements of their study permit and any other immigration regulations while they are in Canada.
Before applying for a study permit extension, make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria. You must still be enrolled in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada and making satisfactory progress towards completing your program.
Gather all the necessary documents to support your application, including proof of enrollment, proof of financial support, and any other supporting documents required by the Canadian government. You will also need to complete the Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Student form.
You can submit your application online or on paper. Make sure to provide all necessary documents and pay the application fee.
While your application is being processed, you must continue to attend classes and maintain your student status in Canada. If your study permit expires while your application is being processed, you can still stay in Canada under what is called “implied status” until a decision is made on your application.
