PR Supported LMIA
PR Support LMIA is not a specific immigration program or category in Canada. However, some immigration programs require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to support the application for permanent residency in Canada.
An LMIA is a document issued by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) that allows Canadian employers to hire foreign workers to fill temporary job vacancies when there are no qualified Canadian citizens or permanent residents available to do the job. An LMIA is required in most cases for a foreign worker to apply for a work permit in Canada.
If an applicant is seeking permanent residency in Canada through a program that requires an LMIA, the Canadian employer must first obtain the LMIA to support the applicant’s work permit application. Once the applicant has obtained a valid work permit, they may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through one of the following programs:
- Express Entry
- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
In summary, while there is no specific immigration program called “PR Support LMIA”, an LMIA may be required to support an application for permanent residency in Canada through certain economic immigration programs.
Who is willing to offer a job that is eligible for an LMIA. The employer must demonstrate that they have made efforts to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents but have been unable to fill the position.
If the LMIA application is approved, the Canadian employer will receive a positive LMIA, which they can use to support the foreign worker’s application for a work permit.
The foreign worker must apply for a work permit and submit the positive LMIA along with their application.
Once the work permit is obtained, the foreign worker may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through an economic immigration program that requires an LMIA.e your work permit is approved, you can travel to Canada and begin your work and travel experience.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Here are some general eligibility criteria for obtaining an LMIA:
- The employer must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a validly operating business in Canada.
- The employer must provide a genuine and valid job offer that is consistent with the foreign worker’s qualifications and experience.
- The employer must demonstrate that they have made sufficient efforts to hire Canadian citizens or permanent residents before offering the job to a foreign worker. This may involve advertising the job on various recruitment platforms and interviewing Canadian applicants.
- The employer must offer wages and working conditions that meet or exceed the prevailing wage rate for the occupation and location.
- The employment of foreign workers must have a positive impact on the Canadian labor market, such as creating new job opportunities, transferring new skills and knowledge, or filling a labor shortage.
- The foreign worker must be able to speak, read, and write in English or French at the level required for the job.
