STUDY PERMIT EXTENSION

A Canada study permit extension allows international students to extend their stay in Canada to complete their studies. If a student’s study permit is expiring soon and they have not completed their studies, they must apply to extend their study permit before it expires.

To apply for a study permit extension, the student must submit their application before their current study permit expires. They must provide proof of enrollment in their program, proof of financial support, and any other supporting documents required by the Canadian government. They must also pay the application fee.

It is important to note that a study permit extension does not guarantee approval for a subsequent study permit or any other immigration status in Canada. The student must continue to meet the requirements of their study permit and any other immigration regulations while they are in Canada.

Before applying for a study permit extension, make sure that you meet the eligibility criteria. You must still be enrolled in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada and making satisfactory progress towards completing your program.

Gather all the necessary documents to support your application, including proof of enrollment, proof of financial support, and any other supporting documents required by the Canadian government. You will also need to complete the Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Student form.

You can submit your application online or on paper. Make sure to provide all necessary documents and pay the application fee.

While your application is being processed, you must continue to attend classes and maintain your student status in Canada. If your study permit expires while your application is being processed, you can still stay in Canada under what is called “implied status” until a decision is made on your application.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for a study permit extension, the student must:

  • Continue to meet the requirements of their original study permit, including maintaining a valid status and complying with the conditions of their permit.
  • Still be enrolled in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada and making satisfactory progress towards completing their program.
  • Have sufficient funds to support themselves and any family members who are in Canada with them.
  • Not have committed any crimes or be a security risk to Canada.
  • Apply for the extension before their current study permit expires.

    CANADA DLI UPDATE

In Canada, Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs) are institutions that have been authorized by the government to accept international students. If you are an international student studying in Canada and need to update your DLI, it means that you need to transfer from your current DLI to a new one.

Updating your DLI involves finding a new institution that is a designated learning institution and applying for admission. Once you receive a letter of acceptance from the new institution, you need to inform Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) of the change by providing them with the new DLI number and the new letter of acceptance.

You will also need to update your study permit by applying to change the conditions of your permit to include your new DLI information. This can be done online or on paper.

It is important to keep your DLI information up to date with IRCC, as failure to do so could lead to the cancellation of your study permit and your status as an international student in Canada. Therefore, it is essential to follow the proper procedure to update your DLI as soon as you decide to transfer to a new institution.

Research and find a new DLI that meets your needs and offers the program you wish to study. Apply to the new DLI and follow their application process. If you are accepted, you will receive a new letter of acceptance.

Once you receive your new letter of acceptance, you must notify IRCC by submitting a web form or contacting them by phone. You will need to provide your new DLI number, your old DLI number, and your new letter of acceptance.

If you have a valid study permit, you will need to apply to change the conditions of your permit and include your new DLI information. You can apply for this change online or on paper.

Once you have submitted your application, you can check your application status on the Canadian government’s website. The processing time for changing the conditions of a study permit can vary depending on the location.

    ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To update your Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada as an international student, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • You must have a valid study permit to study in Canada.
    • You must be currently enrolled in a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada.
    • You must have an offer of admission from a new DLI that is a designated learning institution.
    • You must meet the entry requirements of the new DLI that you want to transfer to, including academic qualifications and English or French language proficiency.
    • You must be in good academic standing at your current DLI, meaning that you are not on academic probation, suspension or expulsion.
    • You must not have a criminal history that could make you inadmissible to Canada.
    • You must have sufficient financial resources to cover the cost of tuition fees and living expenses in Canada while you study.
    DOCUMENT REQUIREMENT
    • Letter of acceptance from the new DLI
    • Proof of enrollment in the current DLI
    • Valid study permit
    • New DLI number
    • Updated study permit application

      ONSHORE ADMISSIONS

Canada welcomes international students to study onshore, which means studying at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada. Onshore students in Canada have access to high-quality education and a multicultural environment that can enrich their academic and personal experiences.

As an onshore student in Canada, you will have the opportunity to study at a variety of institutions, including universities, colleges, and language schools. You can choose from a wide range of programs and fields of study, including business, engineering, healthcare, arts, and more.

You can opt for various course options after completion of your first program or change your current course or college in accordance to a variety of factors.

So, if an international student has a Canadian study permit, he/she can change their course, or university or college after arriving in Canada at any time without needing to apply for a new study permit. You just need to notify IRCC after your acceptance to the institution.

Conduct research to identify programs that align with your academic and career goals. Review the admission requirements for each program and determine whether you meet the eligibility criteria.

Once you have identified the programs you are interested in, you can begin the application process. This typically involves completing an online application form, submitting official transcripts from your previous education, and providing any other required documentation, such as language proficiency test results, letters of recommendation, or personal statements.

You may be required to pay an application fee when you submit your application.

If you receive an offer of admission, you will need to accept the offer and register for classes. You may also need to pay a deposit to secure your spot in the program.

      ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

You must inform IRCC each time you change post-secondary schools. Before starting your course, you must meet the following conditions of your Canadian study permit.

      • You must be accepted at a university in Canada listed in a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
      • You are actively studying while you are in Canada.
      INFORMATION REQUIREMENT

        Study Visa Refusal Cases

Most of the time, applicants will receive a letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) explaining the reasons for the rejection.

Application for a study visa may be rejected by IRCC for a number of typical causes, such as:

        • the ability to support yourself financially while studying in Canada;
        • the ability to pass the required medical examination;
        • the ability to persuade the immigration officer that the applicant’s primary reason for coming to Canada is to study;
        • and/or the ability to persuade the immigration officer that the applicant will depart Canada once their study period is over.

Carefully review the refusal letter and understand the reasons provided by the Canadian visa officer for the refusal.

You may be able to reapply for a study visa after addressing the reasons for refusal. However, you should ensure that you have sufficient new information or evidence to support your case.

If you believe that your application was unfairly refused or if you are unsure of your next steps, you may wish to seek the advice of a qualified immigration lawyer.

If you are unable to obtain a study visa for Canada, you may wish to explore other options such as studying in another country or pursuing an online program.

        ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible to reapply for a Canada study visa after a refusal, you should:

        • Address the reasons for refusal
        • Provide new information or evidence
        • Meet the eligibility requirements
        • Wait for a reasonable period
        • Demonstrate genuine intent

              Study in Canada

Canada offers high quality education at a relatively affordable cost in a safe, stable, and multicultural society. Canada enables you to work during your studies and obtain a work permit after your studies as long as you meet the Canadian government’s criteria. Gaining work experience in Canada after your studies provides you with more opportunities to settle in Canada as a permanent resident. Due to its attractiveness, Canada hosts international students from around 200 different countries.

Every year, Canada invites students from nearly 200 various nations. International pupils from nations like India, China, South Korea, France, Vietnam, the United States, Iran, Brazil, Nigeria, and Mexico are frequently recruited by universities in Canada. Each year, a sizable number of foreign students from many nations in Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean come to study in Canada.

The Post Graduate Work Permit  is a valuable opportunity for international students who wish to gain Canadian work experience after completing their studies, and it can also help them to qualify for permanent residence in Canada through the Canadian Experience Class or other immigration programs. To be eligible for the PGWP, you must have completed a full-time program of study that lasted at least eight months and led to a degree, diploma, or certificate from a designated learning institution in Canada.

Start by identifying your educational and career goals. Determine what you want to study and what you hope to achieve after completing your studies. This will help you narrow down your choices and select an education partner institution that offers programs aligned with your goals.

Do your research and gather information about different education partner institutions in Canada. Visit their websites, read reviews, and consult with educational consultants if needed. Pay attention to factors such as program offerings, location, facilities, student support services, and reputation.

Verify that the education partner institution you are considering is accredited and recognized by the appropriate authorities. Accreditation ensures that the institution meets quality standards and that your degree or certificate will be recognized by employers and other educational institutions.

Seek advice from current students, alumni, or educational consultants to get a better understanding of the education partner institution’s strengths and weaknesses.

                CANADA TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT

A temporary Resident Permit (TRP) is a document issued by the Canadian government that allows a person who is otherwise inadmissible to Canada to enter the country for a specific period of time. It is a discretionary document that is granted in exceptional circumstances when the person’s need to enter Canada outweighs any potential risks to Canadian society.

A TRP may be issued for a single entry or multiple entries, and it is typically valid for up to three years. The permit may include conditions, such as the requirement to report to an immigration officer at a designated time and place, or to refrain from engaging in certain activities while in Canada.

To apply for a TRP, the applicant must submit an application, along with supporting documents, to a Canadian visa office or consulate. The application should include a detailed explanation of why the applicant needs to enter Canada and why they should be granted a TRP. The applicant must also provide evidence to demonstrate that they are not a risk to Canadian security or safety, and that they will comply with the conditions of the permit.

It is important to note that a TRP is not a substitute for a visa, and it does not guarantee entry to Canada. The decision to grant a TRP is made by an immigration officer on a case-by-case basis, and is based on the specific circumstances of the applicant.

You will need to gather all the necessary documents for the TRP application, including a completed application form, a detailed explanation of why you need to enter Canada, supporting documents that demonstrate the compelling reasons for your visit, and any other relevant documents, such as medical records or criminal history.

You can submit your application online or by mail. If you submit your application online, you will need to upload the required documents and pay the fee using a credit card. If you submit your application by mail, you will need to send the application forms, supporting documents, and payment by courier or registered mail.

If required, you will need to attend a biometric appointment at a designated location to provide your fingerprints and photograph.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive a decision on your TRP application. If approved, you will receive a permit that outlines the conditions of your entry into Canada.

                ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for a Canada Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) need to be clearly defined, as the decision to issue a TRP is discretionary and based on the specific circumstances of the applicant. However, there are certain factors that may be considered when assessing an application for a TRP, including:

                • You must provide a compelling reason to visit Canada that outweighs any potential risks to Canadian society.
                • If you have a criminal history, including a conviction or a charge, you may be deemed inadmissible to Canada. However, if you can demonstrate that you have been rehabilitated or that your need to enter Canada outweighs any concerns related to your criminal history, you may be considered for a TRP.
                • If you have a medical condition that could pose a risk to public health in Canada, you may be deemed inadmissible. However, if you can demonstrate that your need to enter Canada outweighs any potential health risks, you may be considered for a TRP.
                • If you have previously violated Canadian immigration laws, such as by overstaying your visa, you may be deemed inadmissible. However, if you can demonstrate that your need to enter Canada outweighs any concerns related to your immigration history, you may be considered for a TRP.
                • If you are deemed to pose a threat to Canadian security, you may be deemed inadmissible. However, if you can demonstrate that your need to enter Canada outweighs any national security concerns, you may be considered for a TRP.

                  CANADA TOURIST VISA

A Canada tourist visa, also known as a visitor visa, is an official document that allows a foreign national to enter Canada for tourism or leisure purposes. It is issued by the Canadian government to individuals who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, and who wish to travel to Canada for a temporary period of time.

The tourist visa is typically valid for up to six months, but the duration of the visa may vary depending on the applicant’s country of citizenship, the purpose of their visit, and other factors.

To obtain a Canada tourist visa, an individual must apply to the Government of Canada, either online or by paper application. The application process usually involves submitting documentation such as a passport, photographs, and proof of sufficient funds to cover the cost of the trip. Additionally, the applicant may need to undergo a medical examination and provide other documentation, such as a letter of invitation from a Canadian citizen or resident.

It’s important to note that obtaining a tourist visa does not guarantee entry into Canada, as the final decision to admit an individual into the country is made by a border services officer at the port of entry.

To apply for a Canada tourist visa, you will need to provide several documents, including a valid passport, two passport-size photos, proof of financial support, and a letter of invitation (if applicable). You may also need to provide additional documentation such as proof of employment or education.

You can apply for a Canada tourist visa either online or by paper application. The application form will require you to provide personal information, details about your trip, and information about your employment and financial situation.

Once you have completed the application and gathered all the required documents, you can submit your application online or in person at a visa application center.

If your visa application is approved, you will receive a stamp in your passport allowing you to enter Canada. At the port of entry, a border services officer will determine if you meet the requirements for entry into Canada. It’s important to have all the required documents with you when you arrive.

                  ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible for a Canada tourist visa, also known as a visitor visa, you must meet the following criteria:

                  • You must have a valid passport that will not expire for at least six months after your planned departure from Canada.
                  • You must be in good health and willing to undergo a medical examination if required.
                  • You must have no criminal record and not be a security risk.
                  • You must be able to demonstrate that you are visiting Canada for the purpose of tourism, visiting family or friends, or participating in business activities.
                  • You must have enough money to cover your expenses during your stay in Canada, including transportation, accommodation, and daily expenses.
                  • You must have a strong intention to return to your home country at the end of your stay in Canada.
                  • If you are visiting friends or family in Canada, you may be asked to provide a letter of invitation from your host.

                    CANADA CITIZENSHIP

Canadian citizenship is a status that is granted to individuals who meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Citizenship Act. As a Canadian citizen, an individual enjoys certain rights and responsibilities, such as the right to vote in federal elections, the right to live and work anywhere in Canada, and the responsibility to obey Canadian laws and contribute to Canadian society.

To become a Canadian citizen, an individual must meet certain eligibility criteria, including being a permanent resident of Canada, having lived in Canada for a certain period of time, and passing a citizenship test. Once an individual has met the eligibility criteria, they can apply for citizenship by completing the appropriate forms, gathering the required documents, and paying the application fee.

Once granted, Canadian citizenship is permanent and cannot be revoked unless it was obtained through fraud or misrepresentation. Canadian citizens also have the right to hold dual citizenship, which means that they can maintain their citizenship from another country while also being a Canadian citizen.

Overall, Canadian citizenship provides individuals with the opportunity to fully participate in Canadian society and enjoy the benefits that come with being a citizen of a prosperous and diverse country.

The first step is to determine whether you are eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship. You must meet certain criteria, such as being a permanent resident of Canada, having lived in Canada for a certain period of time, and passing a language and citizenship test.

You will need to fill out the citizenship application form and submit it along with your supporting documents and application fee.

Once you submit your application, you will need to wait for it to be processed. If your application is approved, you will be invited to take a citizenship test. The test will assess your knowledge of Canada’s history, values, and symbols.

If you pass the citizenship test, you will be invited to attend a citizenship ceremony. At the ceremony, you will take an oath of citizenship and receive your citizenship certificate.
