Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that is designed to allow the province of Ontario to nominate eligible skilled workers, international students, and entrepreneurs for permanent residency in Canada through the Express Entry system.
The OINP is a program that is aligned with the Federal Express Entry system, which is an electronic system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage and process applications for permanent residency from skilled foreign workers. Candidates who qualify for one of the federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, or the Canadian Experience Class, can submit an Express Entry profile.
The OINP offers several streams to nominate candidates for permanent residency in Ontario, including the Human Capital Priorities Stream, the French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, the Skilled Trades Stream, and the Entrepreneur Stream. Each stream has its own eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and application process.
Overall, the OINP is an excellent opportunity for skilled foreign workers, international students, and entrepreneurs to obtain permanent residency in Canada and contribute to the economy and culture of Ontario.
Carefully review the eligibility criteria for the OINP stream you wish to apply to and make sure you meet all the requirements.
If you haven’t already, create an Express Entry profile and indicate that you are interested in being nominated by Ontario.
If you are deemed eligible, you may receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP inviting you to apply to their program. Once you receive an NOI, you will have 45 days to submit your OINP application. Make sure you submit all required documentation and pay the application fee.
If your application is successful, you will receive a nomination from the OINP. This nomination will give you 600 additional points towards your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. If you receive an ITA, you will have 60 days to submit your application for permanent residency.
