LMIA Based Work Permits

LMIA BASED Work Permit IN CANADA

The LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is a process that employers in Canada may be required to go through in order to hire foreign workers. The LMIA is an assessment of the Canadian labour market to ensure that hiring a foreign worker will not negatively impact the job opportunities of Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents.

The LMIA based work permit allows foreign workers to work in Canada for a specified period of time, typically up to two years. After the work permit expires, the worker may be eligible to apply for an extension or a new work permit depending on their circumstances.

Overall, the LMIA based work permit is a pathway for foreign workers to work legally in Canada and gain valuable work experience in a new country.

Find an LMIA approved employer who is willing to hire you and obtain a job offer from them. The employer will need to provide a positive LMIA letter to the foreign worker.

The foreign worker can then use the positive LMIA letter to apply for a work permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). They will need to provide various documents, including the positive LMIA letter, proof of their qualifications and experience, and proof of their identity.

After submitting the application, the foreign worker must wait for a decision from IRCC. Processing times may vary depending on the location and time of year, but current processing times can be found on the IRCC website.

Once the work permit is approved, the foreign worker can enter Canada and begin working for the employer specified on the work permit.
