GLOBAL TALENT STREAM
Canada’s Global Talent Stream is a program that provides faster and more efficient processing of work permit applications for highly skilled foreign workers. The program is designed to help Canadian companies attract top talent from around the world to fill skills shortages in the Canadian workforce.
To apply for the Global Talent Stream, Canadian companies must complete an online application and provide supporting documents, such as proof of job creation and a detailed job offer letter. The program has a set processing fee, and companies must also pay the standard work permit application fee.
It is important to note that the Global Talent Stream is just one of several programs available for Canadian companies to hire foreign workers. Companies should work with a qualified immigration consultant or lawyer to determine which program is best suited to their needs and to ensure that they are meeting all the program requirements.
The employer must first apply to the GTS program and indicate whether they are applying under Category A or Category B.
If the employer is approved for the GTS program, they will receive an LMIA exemption for the position they are looking to fill. This means that they will not need to conduct a traditional LMIA process, which can take months to complete.
Once the LMIA exemption is granted, the foreign worker can apply for a work permit. The work permit application will be processed within two weeks if the applicant is approved under Category A, or within four weeks if approved under Category B.
Once the work permit is approved, the foreign worker can travel to Canada and begin working for the employer.
