EXPRESS ENTRY- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is one of the three federal economic immigration programs under which candidates can apply for permanent residence through Canada Express Entry. This program is designed for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
The FSWP is points-based, and candidates are assessed based on a variety of factors including their age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other criteria. To be eligible for the FSWP, candidates must meet certain minimum requirements such as having at least one year of full-time work experience in a skilled occupation, meeting the minimum language proficiency requirements in either English or French, and demonstrating that they have enough money to support themselves and their family members in Canada.
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria must create an Express Entry profile and obtain a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The CRS score is based on various factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other criteria. The highest-ranking candidates in the Express Entry pool are then invited to apply for permanent residence through regular Express Entry draws.
The FSWP is one of the most popular immigration programs in Canada, as it allows skilled workers to contribute to the Canadian economy and society, while also offering them a pathway to permanent residence in Canada.
Visit the official IEC website and complete the eligibility questionnaire to determine if you meet the criteria for the program. Eligibility criteria can vary depending on your country of citizenship and the category you are applying for.
Depending on the category you are applying for, you may also need to provide additional documentation, such as a job offer or a letter of acceptance for a co-op or internship.
Complete and submit your application through your IEC account. You will need to pay a processing fee at this stage. You can check the current processing times on the Government of Canada website.
Once you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a work permit, you will have a limited amount of time to accept the offer and apply for a work permit. You will need to pay a work permit fee and provide additional documentation, such as a medical exam, if required. Once your work permit is approved, you can travel to Canada and begin your work and travel experience.
