Hi, How Can We Help You?

Caregiver

Caregiver

Federal Economic Programs for caregivers are designed to provide financial assistance, health coverage, and other support to individuals who care for family members or loved ones with disabilities, illnesses, or other special needs.

The Canada Caregiver Federal Economic Programs are immigration programs designed to help caregivers and their families immigrate to Canada and obtain permanent residency. The programs are intended to address the shortage of caregivers in Canada and to support families who need to hire caregivers for their loved ones.

There are two main programs under the Caregiver Federal Economic Programs:

  • The Home Child Care Provider Pilot
  • The Home Support Worker Pilot

Both programs require candidates to have a job offer from a Canadian employer, and employers must apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before the caregiver can apply for a work permit. After two years of full-time work experience, the caregiver may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through a separate immigration program.

Candidates must first find a job offer from a Canadian employer who is willing to hire them as a home child care provider or home support worker. The employer must also obtain a positive LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) to prove that there is a need for a foreign caregiver.

Once the employer has obtained a positive LMIA, the caregiver can apply for a work permit through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The caregiver must provide proof of their job offer and LMIA, as well as meet other eligibility requirements.

Once the caregiver has been granted a work permit, they can enter Canada and begin working for their employer.

After working for two years in Canada as a home child care provider or home support worker, the caregiver may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through the Home Child Care Provider Pilot or Home Support Worker Pilot, respectively. Applicants must meet certain eligibility requirements, including language proficiency and education requirements.
